Hair is GOOD!!!!

I hate getting my hair cut.

I like my long floppy and messy hair that covers most of my forehead, eyes and ears, though most of the people around me screams at me to get my hair cut.

Finally decided to follow their advice. Saw my Venice trip photos from last year and decided that the long and floppy mop head hair was good for grabbing when frustrated in the lab, it looked terrible on the photos. Was getting more vain this year and decided that the Germany photos this time will feature a well groomed me (contact lenses and sunglasses included in the poser attempt)

Did a £8 haircut at one of the high tech hair cut thingies that have sprung up from Japan. They have this little kiosk near platform one in Euston main line station and you just put a tenner into this slot in the machine, and it returns you a 2 pound coin and gives you a ticket with estimated time of wait. When your turn comes, someone will take you ticket and then proceed to give you a haircut. Very much like the 10 dollars 10 min hair cut in Bishan Junction 8, but they seem to be in no rush here. Seemed to take forever to cut my hair.

Some time later, I was the proud owner of a funky “out of bed“ messed up crop look, thanks to some funny thingie that he added to my hair. Was not mouse, was not gel, was not clay, was not wax, but I vaguely remember that it has a food like name. Anyways, was really pleased with myself for a bit until I hit the streets.

The lack of hair really hurts.

My ears and head was exposed to the biting wind, and I was not used to this. Its like something is stinging you on the head and ears all at the same time.
(it got a lot worse in Germany when it was sub zero and the gales were blowing, but that will come in another entry when I get the photos sorted)

Morale of the story, No point cutting hair to look good. Long floppy mop head has its practical uses……

Figure it out yourself!

Was on a friend's car coming down from Collingdale and passing through Golders Green when we came across a BMW 5 series being driven by a bearded middle eastern-looking chap. Dint seem too wrong until we realised that he was driving in a very Jewish area with the following number plate!

I am suprised that DVLA would still allow a number plate of 911 and PLA, considering the implications of both the number and the PLA bit.....

Its Christmas Time....

I must be really tired out. Have not realised that Christmas was arriving. Is it me only, or does it seem that there seems to be little Christmas atmosphere in London this December?

And so, this leads to the fact that for once, I have forgotten to send Christmas cards this year. Usually, I end up sending out something like 20 odd cards at least, but this time I think its too late and hence the excuse. I have been working too hard to realise that Christmas was catching up and did not manage to get my Christmas cards on time.

Therefore, to all those friends out there that are thinking of sending me Christmas cards, that usually get Christmas cards from me and those that would like to think I will send them Christmas cards, here is my e-card with a photo taken by non-other than myself!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Autumn Leaves

Autumn leaves. This photo was taken from my kitchen window by me.

Anyways, back to Euston. Euston is this strange myriad of smells. Was walking from Euston Square station north side towards Euston Mainline station tonight when I came across this thick sweet smell of smoke.

Hmm weed…. Smell seems to get stronger… hmm… weed…. Walks towards the smell. Its gets stronger and thicker….

Then suddenly, stale pee…..

Ewww……..

Yes, Euston, the land of pee…. To be honest, its not always that bad smelling once they dry. But then again, it is always worrying when it rains. You never know if the puddle that you just walked trough is just rainwater or rehydrated pee.

Singapore must be a sad place to be in.....

Came across this link from a friend via e-mail about a Welcome to Singapore site and I decided to click on it. It turned out to be the personal site of the Most Handsome Man in Singapore. (picture above)

If this is the best that Singapore has to offer, it must be a really sad sad place indeed………

5th November 1605

I am not too good with my history but I think the gist of the story goes like this. There was this English king, I think he was called Henry. He married and then wanted to divorce his wife and marry another woman again and I think he did this (either divorce or chopped the head of his wife off) quite a few times. Back then, I think the king claims to be anointed by God and hence his right to rule over others, or something like that. However, back then, Britain was Catholic and the pope was not too keen with this old guy deciding that he wanted to go against the catholic tradition thingie of not having only one woman to love and to treasure throughout his life. And history goes on (and I have no idea what’s is the real story) and this king decided if the pope was not going support him, he will just denounce the pope and come up with his own religion, and made best with him as the head of the religion. ( I am not too sure about this but I think I got the foggy idea) Then of course, they became not too happy with each other and then since he was head of this religion and he was king, he wanted all his men to follow him and all that. Just like how Bushy now is going around shooting the crap out of anyone that did not have the same religion as him, it was not going to work and along civil war resulted.

So by 1605, there was this guy called Robert Catesby that was a Catholic and was not too happy with the whole thing. The old queen died and they hoped that the one that the new king that took over would be a little nicer, but being the all powerful bigot that these old foggies used to be, he was not. He made life worse for the Catholics and then this bloke called Robert Catesby decided to blow up the whole parliament and the king and all. They managed to store a lot of gun powder in the cellars of the houses of Parliament hoping to blow them sky high. As usual, sure got some miserable dipshit that will go and tell on them. So the plot was discovered and Guy Fawkes was the one that was caught in the cellar. They tide him up, hanged him and chopped him up to scare the rest of them.

To remember the traitors, terrorists or what they are called, the population then decided to have the bonfire night every year on the anniversary. They all had a good time setting off fire works and building bonfires to throw effigies of Guy Fawkes to burn on them. Maybe some day we will celebrate burring paper cut outs of Bin Laden as well.

And so the tradition was carried on until today. Sometimes I wonder if we are celebrating the capture of these guys or celebrating their attempt to overthrow a useless king that was making everyone’s life miserable.

It's a sad sad day for the world today....

It’s a sad sad day for the world today. It is the most unfortunate thing to happen to our planet.

I can’t believe that the Americans have actually voted one of the biggest war mongering, nitwited bigot in the world as their leader.

With the nitwit as their leader, there will be no peace in the next 4 years with his foreign policy. There will be irreparable damage done to the environment with the nitwit’s environmental policy and his absolute refusal to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.

All the mess that he is going to create is going to last more than the 4 years he will be in power. It may take decades to undo the damage he will done to the environment, it will take decades to reverse the hostility and divisions that he has created all over the world, maybe even generations to heal the wounds inflicted by his recklessness.

It’s a sad sad day for the world today…

Just to quote:Moody Awori, Kenyan Vice-President

I am a little bit apprehensive because the first term of Bush, he had come in as a lame duck.

Now it appears as if he is winning very convincingly. To me, I think we are going to see more dictatorship on an international scale. We are going to see more extremism come out of there.

We are going to see even more isolationism where America will not bother about the United Nations. To me that is a very sad affair.

I miss Muswell Hill

Much as I have moved from somewhere between zone 3 and 4, somewhere that will take me 45 mins to 1 hr by public transport to anywhere central in London. I still miss that place very much. I had many good years and many good times there. I guess the best time of my life in UK was spent there. It was like a quaint little town. It had everything that it needed to be self sufficent, even a multi-screend cinema.

Feeling a little cramped for space?

And if you always wondered why people would pay over £30 000 for a parking lot in Bloomsbury in Central London, Maybe this photo will help.

Parking must be such a HUGE shortage that they actually stuff 3 cars into one long lot, with some mechanical arm lifting the first car that parked deepest straight into air. And no, this is NOT a garage.

Two Minute Management Course :)))

Lesson One

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw
the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"
The eagle answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below
the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit
and ate it.

Management Lesson #1 - To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting
very, very high up.

Lesson Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the
top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull.
"They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough
strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating
some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night,
the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly
spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Management Lesson #2 - Bull shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep
you there.

Lesson Three

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze
and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As
the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how
warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm
and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the
sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly
dug him out and ate him.

Management Lesson #3 -

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

This ends your two minute management course.

Shopping Spree

Due to incidents with the washing machine last night and an expanding belly, I have managed to lose 2 pairs of trousers in less than a week.

Belly incident. It must have been expanding silently and I was not too acutely aware of it. May have something to do with all the recent eating out. The poor thread holding the button must have been under immense pressure that it just gave way. I can’t find the button and that is a little problem. To be honest, I dint think that that the pair of trousers was any bit of a tight fit. I have things that are still tighter than that, but that is no longer the point here. The button has popped while it was in the washer and I can’t find the button and there goes one pair of boring fuddley duddley M&S blue harbour trousers.

The second incident happened last night when I was just sending the cargo trousers to the wash and well, erm, it dint seem to agree with the machine’ quick wash cycle and well, some bits of the trousers have a little bit of an embarrassing hole. Not exactly something that can be fixed with a bit of needle and thread, but more of something not at the seams. Okay, there goes another pair.

Together with the other GAP Kaki that threw in the towel early in the month, I am, or should I say WAS only left with one lonely pair of trousers. Had a bit of a panic last night.

I just HAD to get more trousers soon, just in case the last one give up on me too and then I will really be unable to get out of the house.

What was all that about? After all that long boring introduction, it was only to justify to myself why I went shopping today.

Actually, before the shopping, today was actually quite a activity filled day. Much more so than the past few boring days. I had hardly achieved so much in a day before.

The morning started with a talk that we had to attend for a friend’s upgrade, then it was off to my bug work. (Damm those bugs. They never die when I try to kill them and now they just die again even without any attempts to kill them) Even managed to squeeze a viability count in before the lunchtime meeting.

Managed to sneak off in the afternoon and went back to my old school to fiddle about and try to “help” (more like monkey about) in the practical lessons.

Then it was back to lab to finish some work, quick dinner with a friend in the unpalatable hospital cafeteria. (Chicken Tikka Masala with things they claimed to be rice. I chose the chocolate croissant instead)

Tried to make use of the late night shopping and took a tube to Bond Street, Went through Debenhams, John Lewis and I think the other one is called House of Fraser.

Managed to get myself a pair of Quicksilver ¾ length trousers for an amazing £20 when the original price was £50, plus another pair of crappy looking thing and a head massager (I am not too sure if I am already regretting this gadget).

Then it was off to the Royal Society of Medicine to collect a letter, and then down to Victoria to collect some other letters before finally stopping at Marks for some Stollen.

I have to say, the Stollen does look like mouldy fruitcake but its one of the nicest things that I have eaten in ages. Who says that the Germans only made sausages and beer that was worth eating!

Lots more to say, but I realise that I am rambling on too much now. Gotta stop. I am sure that no one is really interested in such rubbish.

The End of the S"

Just thought that I would put in a quick update here. I did not manage to finish what i wanted to log about the Story of the Smoke that happened on Thursday. To be honest, I cant quite be arsed to finish it now.

Dint do much on Saturday. Woke up late with a huge headache and decided to go back to bed for a bit and then just stoned around the house. Came to lab later and did my bugs and got my head chewed off by my supervisor because she thought the post doc and I left the huge mess in the bug hood, but then again, it cant have been me because I don’t do any bug work up here anyway. Made me talk cock with her until 8pm and then it was too late to pop to visit a friend. Tried to rearrange my room again, but then it still looks as messy as ever, thought most of the mess seems to have been displaced to the left against the window.

Sunday started with a dim sum lunch at Phoenix Palace and that was a such a huge gathering that it took us up from 1 pm to about half three to finish the lunch. Came back with a friend on the car, but dint managed to get very far as there was multiple road closures due to some demonstration again. Had to park the car in the middle of nowhere by the road side and walk to work. Nothing much interesting.

No significant update on Monday. Nothing much happening other than the fact that I am still at work at the moment, going back now as I am starving and I am giving up the theme of the letter S. One week of that was enough to really annoy myself.

S is for a super unhappy me....

S is for super shit. We have this male toilet that has only 2 cubicles in one of the newly built lab. Therefore, without urinals, the guys have to use the normal toilet bowl. I don’t need to go into too much details but there was only one stall available when I went there. When I got into the stall, there was just this huge poo sitting in the middle of the tub, happily floating in the water. I just thought this was too disgusting to use, so I decided to flush the toilet first before use. One full flush later, the poo was still sitting defiantly in the middle of the bowl. Tried a second time, this time pumping the flush handle vigorously trying to flush it down. Still dint work. Gave up and went to another loo. Wonder if Supershit will still be floating there tomorrow?

S is still for Singlepoint. Singlepoint is not just Shit, but totally fucked up. Yes, totally fucked up. Without my knowledge or permission, they have cancelled my contract and transferred me to pay as you go. They claim that I have replied a text message to transfer, but how could I have done that when I was not even in the country? In the beginning of the week, I was told that the contract was cancelled by accident and would be reconnected, but now, they tell me that I am no longer on their network but on another network. I call the other network, but they say that I cant be connected to their network because I don’t have the correct SIM card. WTF are they all doing??? I want my number back and have been left waiting for 30 mins on this dammed national call rate. Am typing with one hand as I am waiting but the latest news is that my number is no longer attached to any SIM card. WTF???

S is for stairs. This is a short story. 2 of the 3 lifts have broken down. It takes forever to get anywhere waiting for the lifts so now I am having to walk up and down 6 flights of stairs.

S is for smoke. There was a lot of smoke today. The smoke alarm went off and we were all evacuated. The Royal London Homeopathic Hospital was burning. But that’s too long a story for here.

S is for Singlepoint

Singlepoint cancelled my mobile subscription. This is not the first time they did this to me. One day my phone is working fine, the next day it tells me unregistered SIM. I don’t know what they are up to. They gave me an 0800 number to call, but call as I might, the number is always engaged. Had to call a 0870 number to be ripped off during peak time to actually speak to someone to complain that my phone is dead. Oops they say, you dint send in a letter to cancel your mobile, and we don’t know why it has been disconnected. I am so sorry, if you would just please give us your SIM card number and we will reactivate the phone for you in less than 24 hours. Just remember to keep the phone off and turn it on tomorrow. This was on Monday. It is almost Thursday, and my phone still says unregistered SIM every time I turn it on to check. Sucks.

S is for.....

S is for Sunday. This is an entry for something that happened yesterday but I was just too tired to blog. Anyway, the letter for the week is S.

S is for Safeway. Safeway is Sucky. At least, that’s my verdict on Safeway in Bloomsbury. Its huge, its much larger than the Sainsbury in Muswell Hill, but the stuff they carry seems to be so pathetic and silly. Would one be able to imagine that in a supermarket so big, there would not be any nail clipper nor lime scale remover? Nope, I took 20 mins to search about Safeway before I decided to seek help from one of their employees. And that brings me to the third S.

S is for Samad. Samad is Stupid. I found Samad at the bakery department when he was trying to put little sticky reduction stickers onto expiring food. I knew he was Samad because he had his nametag on the collar of his shirt instead of in the front. I asked Samad for help with nail clipper and lime scale remover. Samad could not fine me the nail clipper. That’s okay, that’s not his fault. Safeway sucks, don’t seem to stock such basic needs. Samad cant find the lime scale remover as well. We were at the cleaning and kitchen section for some time. It was not that bad, until Samad came up with his great idea.

“Lime scale remover? Used to clean things?”

Me: “Yes, to clean the kettle”

“Yesh, you want something to clean something? Grease and all? Here got a lot” he points to various kitchen cleaning products.

Me: “No, to clean kettle inside, lime scale, you know, the white stuff that builds up when you use the kettle to make tea?”

At this point, Samad passes me a Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner from the top left shelf. “ This oven cleaner very good. Can clean grease and all the black black things!”

I took the cleaner from him and tried again. “Kettle for making tea, boiling water, lime scale, white stuff”, keeping my words really slow just in case Samad cant catch my accent (thought I cont believe that I have a problem communicating generally)

“Yes, grease, dirt, rust, everything this can clean! “ Samad replies almost like an excited little kid that has found the secret ingredient to some magical recipe.

At this point, I really gave up and said thanks and walked off with the bottle of Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner. Samad happily goes back to sticking reduced price labels on bakery products. I went back the long way to replace the oven cleaner on the shelf. I am sure the oven cleaner cleans grease, rust, dirt and everything, but I am not exactly too keen to use it to clean a kettle that has a slight coating of lime scale (and eat through the element of the kettle or poison myself to death when I next use the kettle).

And if you thought the Sunday Saga was over, there was still one S left to go.

S is for Swipecard, S is for Shit. Shit, by the time I got to my office, I realised that I had left my swipecard at home and had to go all the way home to get my card.

So that’s the Summary of a Shitty Sunday, filled with incidents with the letter S.

Arrival for the Big Day

Turned up at Finsbury Park at 1.30pm. A little early for the match but there was no way that I was going to be late.

The official store was just outside the Mainline rail station and they were already selling programmes and guide books for the matches.

From Our Seats

Top left of the lower tier, first seat at the leftmost. Not that great a view actually.

Team Warm Up

The wonders of a 10X zoom when you are stuck in the top corner....

There were no photos during the match as I was just trying to record all the corner kicks or the exciting moments. I almost had the bit where Henry scored with a backheel while piggybacking Fortune (I think it was fortune or did I get the names wrong?)that had jumped onto him in an attempt to block him from turning to shoot.

Rainbow after the Rain

It was raining quite heavily during the match but the sky has cleared up by the time the match ended. Was trying to catch the rainbow after the match with this photo but it dint come out too well on the photograph. Its somewere above the guy's head, between the second and third chimmney. I think you have to click on the photo to enlarge it before you can actually see it.

Highbury

East Stand, or also known as Highbury's Main entrance. It looks really run down compared to the other Clubs such as Newcastle or Man Utd. But then again, we are going to have a brand new stadium soon.

And the Tube has done it again!

And the tube has done it again! This is the post match result at Finsbury park. Picadilly Line was totally dead between Kings Cross and Cockfosters, hence all the fans had to use the Victoria Line at Finsbury park and none of the other 2 stations nearby that runs Picidally line.

I think what would really suprise me is that if the tube actually RUNS for once without break down on some line or the other every week!

4 - 0

4-0 and we were there.

Its really a totally different experience if you were there in person.
You get to see things that are not reported fairly in the news.
You get to feel the emotions and the rush. You feel the whole stadium shudder when everyone stands up together at a crutial moment.
Will update the photos once I clear my table. At the moment, I can hardly even see anything with all the paper work burying my table and can hardly with all the rubbish strewn all over the room floor.

Whoo Whooooo!!!!!!!!!1

See this wonderful thing? Yesh, its a complementary ticket to watch arsenal beat the S*** out of Charlton this Saturday. Wanted actually to share the MAF party photos but I guess all that can wait now.

My wonderful and esteemed Greek friend knows enough ppl in the right places, and it sure makes me happy, especially when I get to reap the rewards of watching the, unbeaten since last season, champions of the league last year, legendary ARSENAL this Saturday in person!

Okay, now I don’t feel so guilty for allowing myself to be dragged to watch the match when some team beat I think Charlton or some team starting with c and has 2 words, wears light blue with white stripes to gain their last [EVER!] league trophy in the 2000-2001 season. I almost got killed when I cheered while sitting among the reds when the opposing team scored the first goal. Its just too bad that they managed to lift the trophy immediately as a result of that match.

In the name of the Hwa Chong Spirit!

They can merge the schools. They can take away the school songs, they can even take away the logo, but they will NEVER be able to take away our Spirit!

You may ask me what all this mad screaming is about. I can tell you everything in detail, can send you one hundred and one forwarded e-mails and articles, but if you don’t have it, you will probably never understand it. But anyways, I have always held or at least tried to hold a MAF since I have came to London. Not a single year was an exception. It was either a thing in the halls, or a cooking out session in my house, or at worst, a meeting in a London restaurant, but we never failed to celebrate MAF, well, not since my first year in Hwa Chong. (I am ancient! Don’t ask how old I am as many of my batch has long returned to Hwa Chong to teach.)

This year, I wanted to make an exception and just give up on the whole thing. I am not prepared, everyone is scattered about or has gone back home and logistics of organising something like this is a complete nightmare. Ask everyone and there will be conflicts, don’t ask everyone, there will also be problems of leaving people out. Its never that simple, not to mention the need of a substantial amount of mooncake and what nots to keep everyone happy. So, in the flow of things, there was no planned celebration this year.

It must have been the clearing up of my e-mail inbox together with my room that suddenly stirred up a lot of happy memories that I have of Hwa Chong. Not to mention that the added guilt of not turning up for MAF last Saturday when I was actually still back home. (thought I have a more than valid excuse for this!). This year may very well be the last of the HCJC MAF as they have merged the school and are about to change everything inside out, then it dawned on me that they can change all that they want, they can take out all that they want, but no matter what they do now, they cant touch the memories that we still have. So in my own little way of remembering such a wonderful school so far away from her, this year will be of no exception. We WILL have another MAF party come Tuesday! Haven’t decided where and what we are going to do, but I think we will be meeting at Russell Square Tube Station. Anyone interested, drop a message and I’ll get back to you!

May the Hwa Chong Spirit live on!

On the way back....

I glanced out of the B747-400 window above the English channel,

Looking out into the sky....

Thinking how beautiful the red sunset looked, (or was it just the haze from London's pollution????)

And I see Wembley!

Or at least the Arc of the new stadium anyway, while circling above London.

AFK - Back to the Small Town

Away from the keyboard at the moment, or at least in terms of blogging of life in London. Have just gone back to my small town for 2 weeks and unless I am going to have to change the title of the blog to living in a small town, but then again, that will not seem to go go well with the blogger URL of livininlondon so I guess I should most probably be leaving the blog alone for a couple of days.

Happening Sunday

Was not able to get away for the weekend as planned due to someone…… I shall not rant on about her anymore because that won’t help things out in any way.

Anyways, since the Greek guy is only going to be in work late in the evening, I decided to bum about for the earlier part of the day. I decided that I deserved it. Cricket was cancelled on channel 4 because somehow England was too good and won the cricket yesterday, and they replaced it with “king of the hill”, “friends” and “stargate SG-1” Managed to catch all 4 of them before dragging my reluctant butt off the couch to get changed to meet V at Oxford Circus.

Went to Hamley’s to get a birthday present for one of his friends (space age Risk, 2014 or something like that that cost almost 3 times the price of normal Risk) then to Lillywhites to get a Tennis racket as a belated birthday present for a friend while the sale was still on. Buying spree, ended up with 2 tennis rackets, one for me as well. Maybe its V’s fault for pushing me to get one for myself as it was a really good racket and he promised to pay tennis with me in London when he gets back from his vacation.

Plodded about in Leicester Square watching Olympics on a big screen in the open and it was sad that Paula Radcliff had pulled out halfway in the women’s marathon. Wish that she could have won. Anyway, from there, we ended up in Bar Ciao, one of my fav ice cream parlours before I had to go in back to work. Long story between Bar Ciao and work, but I am too tired to bother at the moment.

Let the games begin!

Google's Athens Icon
I'm prob getting a little kick out of nothing, but then again, itsnt it cool? To think such as huge coporation such as googls still has this human touch is just wonderful. Anyways, anyone has any idea who it may be that is in charge of these changes in images for google for all the festive occasions? Do the bigwigs actually get involved in such stuff or do they have a team of dedicated webmasters that are given the freedom to fiddle about with such stuff?

Friends

I have homechoice now, and now, together with my housemate’s Fraser videos, I seem to have an unlimited number of Frasier episodes to watch. If you have never watched Fraser, let me just say its one of the most therapeutic comedies that I have ever come across.

Was catching one of the middle episodes in series 3 where Frasier is suddenly aware of his acute lack of friends and he tries and invites his listeners to call in and offers his friendship to them. Ross thinks he is nuts and will be inviting all sorts of weirdoes to call in and try to befriend him. As usual, Ross is right and he is flooded with thousands of calls and faxes from the really weird and whacky ones, but somehow, one fax that came through sounded normal. A professional photographer that was touched by Frasier’s show.

The show then goes on around the theme of how Frasier tries to befriend this guy, invites him to coffee and then going out on a limb to become a good friend and the supposedly normal guy turns out to be a total stalking whacko obsessed with barbecue.
This just got me wondering. How many blog readers that come across a blog will read it over a couple of entries and then, after some time, reach out and chat to or e-mail the blogger. Have other bloggers out there be sent e-mails by strangers offering their friendships? Sometimes, when we read one or two other blogs, we end up being to see the side of the blogger that is hidden away during their normal lives. Sometimes, some may share the more intimate information over the blog that they would not think of sharing with others around them, making us the readers feel a privileged lot. We may even feel compelled to say hi to them, feeling that we sort of “know” the other person at the other end of the e-mail. Has this happened to you?

This is one of the reasons why I am still not totally comfortable about putting my personal details and profiles down on my blog. Not to mention, that this blog probably is a little more warped that I am in real life, as its all the weird and whacked stuff that I think of that gets written down here. Normally, I would think I am actually quite a boring and ordinary guy that is not the least bit interesting and wont leave any impression on new ppl that I meet. Some would actually consider me a very private person that is really secretive about my life. After all, they used to call me Mysterious (insert my last name here) in my first 2 years in college, simple because I was not willing to divulge much about myself or who and where I was hanging out.

I guess I am still not sure and I am still not comfortable with leaving too much detail about myself online in such an open space. But then again, just drop me an e-mail if you are really that curious, and most likely, you would get a reply from me.

Bloody Ear

Yesh, I have a bloody ear at the moment.

No, I did not meet some drunks leaving the pub at closing time while I was on my way home.I actually managed to jab a finger quite sharply into it. Was trying to fiddle with my new TV remote. We have now got broadband AND cable TV, all through the phone line. Supposed to be some new japanese technology, that allows for digital TV, broadband internet and even video on demand through the humble telephone line! Cool isnt it?

Anyway, back to the story of the bloody ear. I was scratching it and was a little distracted by the brushed metal remote controler for the digital set top box. Somehow or the other, heard a little scratchy sound, somewhere like a very soft scratch/tear kinda sound. It dint hurt much, but by the time I removed my finger and looked at it, there was quite a bit of blood.

Yups, thats the story of the bloody ear......

Football Predictons!

England Vs France.

Soon to start. The pundits are going on and on about it on ITV 1 now. They are going through ALOT of crap analysis on individual players, their career, where they are likely to end up and stuff like that.

All wonderful, useless info.

Generally I support England. Just like the previous World Cup (2002 i think), I have an england flag up somewhere in my room (beside the door actually), showing my support. (no need to stick it out of the window this time. I am no longer in Whitechapel.)

Much as I would like to be optimistic, England is not that likely to be winning this one. Would be good if they can make it a draw. The only way that they can win is if Barthez messses it up big time. Relying on Beckham, somehow it does not inspire any confidence on me. If David Seaman was still in goal, well, Beckham may be crap, but at least we wont be letting all the goals in. But now, we have someone even worse than Barthez. We have David James. France, on the other hand, although they have a practically open goal on their end, has Henry. He is a one man attacking team. Now you see him, now you dont. There is not one defender that he cannot outrun, not one goalkeeper he cant beat (other than Seman of course!). We can ignore how bad Barthez is in goal. Barthez can let in one, Barthex can let in two, But all you need is for someone, anyone to pass the ball to Henry up front, and its all over.

They say its all over. It is now!(for those out there, its the title of a late night sport gamshow on telly here)
