Research Funding

Currently there are more money spent in breast implants and Viagra today then on research into Alzheimer's and other senile dementias.

That should mean that by 2040, there will be a large elderly population with perky boobs an huge errections with absolutely no recollection of what to do with them!

Random update

Spent the day outside London in Essex for a barbecue. I know it is not as happening considering that its Glastonbury this weekend, and Wimbledon is on as well, but I had a marvellous time nevertheless.

Got woken up by a phone call to realise that it was already almost 12 noon, rushed to the shower and by the time I came out and got dressed, transport was already waiting for me downstairs. Got stuck in a jam and finally got the venue. Dint do much, just slouched out in the main armchair watching tennis on BBC 1. Helped out a little with little random things, played Frisbee and had BBQ food, which, I have to point out that this was much better than the normal BBQ fare. Seasoned medium rare Sirloin steaks, chicken kebabs, salads and all that really stuffed me up. Watched Murray on BBC 1 as he was fighting his way past the third round, got really stressed watching just about to pull through for the first set, see him clinch the second set and then to suffer from injury to lose the third and fourth sad was really unfortunate. It was something so important that BBC1 did not even stop for news or anything else. Incidentally, it was funny watching the spectators doing the Mexican wave all the time as either of the competitors took a rest break or toilet break.

Okay, I guess I am blabbering on as no one is probably interested in all this boring crap about my life, but I have to say I did have a good time today.

This is a photo of Mann’s Chinese Theatre taken when I was in Hollywood back in spring.

Rotting tomatoes are nourishing!

This is a picture of a tomato that my housemate bought a long long time ago(about 2 months I think) and have yet to eat.

If you look at it carefully, there is actually a tomato shoot germinating out of it.

Photo quality is poor at the moment, as camera is away on loan, so this was taken by the PDA camera.

Conversation with the receptionist

We must have a new receptionist here. This was how the telephone conversation went.

R = receptionist,
Me = me

Act 1 Scene 1

“Ring ring, ring ring, ring ring” the office phone wont stop ringing. I dint really want to pick it up as I was going something but it just got too annoying so I had to.

Me : Hello?

R : Is Marianne there?

Me: Nope. She is not here. Can I take a message?

R: There is someone at reception for her.

Me: Okay, Shall I go look for her?

R: No need. There is someone at reception waiting for her.

Me: Shall I leave her a message then?

R: No, there is someone here.

Me: Okay, (puts the phone down)

End of Act 1 Scene 1

What she expect me to do?

Don’t leave a message, don’t look for Marianne, and then what am I supposed to do? Keep telling me that there is someone there is pointless if you don’t want me to do anything about it right? And its not like I can go to reception to pick up or meet someone that I don’t know, not to mention that reception is like in the other block 5 mins walk away!!!

How J got his groove back

Things are starting to slowly fall back into place.

Quick update on what’s going on.

Just finished the big UCL departmental presentation earlier in the evening. I dint really seem to know what I was blabbering about but I think I got away with it. Yea, one huge load off my mind.

Survived something last night without getting ripped apart. That must be good.

2 good friends are getting married within the next year. Whoo Who… Good for them. I will then be able to play uncle uncle to their kids.

Maybe my second supervisor is right. Bad things end at 3 and things will be turning for the better soon.

Dinner was toast with butter and jam. Dinner buddy got stuck with On-Call that he couldn’t even sit down for food. The problem with buying bread here.. tsk tsk. Long story, that is prob another post in its own right.

And yes, for those that worry, I am getting better with everything. When I finally seem to start to get back to blogging is a sign that I am starting to get to grips with the things around me.
