Whoo Whooooo!!!!!!!!!1

See this wonderful thing? Yesh, its a complementary ticket to watch arsenal beat the S*** out of Charlton this Saturday. Wanted actually to share the MAF party photos but I guess all that can wait now.

My wonderful and esteemed Greek friend knows enough ppl in the right places, and it sure makes me happy, especially when I get to reap the rewards of watching the, unbeaten since last season, champions of the league last year, legendary ARSENAL this Saturday in person!

Okay, now I don’t feel so guilty for allowing myself to be dragged to watch the match when some team beat I think Charlton or some team starting with c and has 2 words, wears light blue with white stripes to gain their last [EVER!] league trophy in the 2000-2001 season. I almost got killed when I cheered while sitting among the reds when the opposing team scored the first goal. Its just too bad that they managed to lift the trophy immediately as a result of that match.

In the name of the Hwa Chong Spirit!

They can merge the schools. They can take away the school songs, they can even take away the logo, but they will NEVER be able to take away our Spirit!

You may ask me what all this mad screaming is about. I can tell you everything in detail, can send you one hundred and one forwarded e-mails and articles, but if you don’t have it, you will probably never understand it. But anyways, I have always held or at least tried to hold a MAF since I have came to London. Not a single year was an exception. It was either a thing in the halls, or a cooking out session in my house, or at worst, a meeting in a London restaurant, but we never failed to celebrate MAF, well, not since my first year in Hwa Chong. (I am ancient! Don’t ask how old I am as many of my batch has long returned to Hwa Chong to teach.)

This year, I wanted to make an exception and just give up on the whole thing. I am not prepared, everyone is scattered about or has gone back home and logistics of organising something like this is a complete nightmare. Ask everyone and there will be conflicts, don’t ask everyone, there will also be problems of leaving people out. Its never that simple, not to mention the need of a substantial amount of mooncake and what nots to keep everyone happy. So, in the flow of things, there was no planned celebration this year.

It must have been the clearing up of my e-mail inbox together with my room that suddenly stirred up a lot of happy memories that I have of Hwa Chong. Not to mention that the added guilt of not turning up for MAF last Saturday when I was actually still back home. (thought I have a more than valid excuse for this!). This year may very well be the last of the HCJC MAF as they have merged the school and are about to change everything inside out, then it dawned on me that they can change all that they want, they can take out all that they want, but no matter what they do now, they cant touch the memories that we still have. So in my own little way of remembering such a wonderful school so far away from her, this year will be of no exception. We WILL have another MAF party come Tuesday! Haven’t decided where and what we are going to do, but I think we will be meeting at Russell Square Tube Station. Anyone interested, drop a message and I’ll get back to you!

May the Hwa Chong Spirit live on!

On the way back....

I glanced out of the B747-400 window above the English channel,

Looking out into the sky....

Thinking how beautiful the red sunset looked, (or was it just the haze from London's pollution????)

And I see Wembley!

Or at least the Arc of the new stadium anyway, while circling above London.

AFK - Back to the Small Town

Away from the keyboard at the moment, or at least in terms of blogging of life in London. Have just gone back to my small town for 2 weeks and unless I am going to have to change the title of the blog to living in a small town, but then again, that will not seem to go go well with the blogger URL of livininlondon so I guess I should most probably be leaving the blog alone for a couple of days.
