I don’t get how we could have lost that match against Blackburn. According to the gamecast that I was watching live from soccernet, Arsenal had taken 42 shots at goal. That is almost at a rate of one shot at goal every two minutes in a standard game.
What in the world is going on?

Ken "The Arrogrant " Livingstone
Imagine this scenario in London, or any other big major European city.
A Muslim reporter was covering a civic event celebrating some gay member of parliament coming out in the open at city hall. Several gay guests left the event and was interviewed by the reporter on how the evening went and even poised for pictures.
The mayor comes out and was also asked by the reporter how the evening went. The exchange goes something like this:
Reporter: Evening Mr Mayor, so how did the event go?
Mayor: What are you? A Taliban spy? And al Qaeda operative?
Reporter: Actually Mr Mayor, I am moderate law abiding Muslim and I take offence at being spoken to in this manner.
Mayor: Ah yes, so were you in one of those terrorist training camps? Are you a terrorist or a trained suicide bomber? You blow yourself up because you have no life and is unable to fit into normal society?
First of all, imagine the demonstrations that will take place because of the mayor’s remarks. Everyone in the mayor’s office advises him to apologise and put the matter behind him. Even the prime minister calls him to apologise but he refuses to.
And instead of apologising, he goes on and insists that the reporter was being rude and pushy and goes on to attack the newspaper that the reporter was working for and launch a personal attack on the reporter.
How would that go down the Muslim community? Not very well I guess. We may have another protest similar to that caused by the Danish cartoons. We may even end up with riots similar to the ones seen in Paris.
So back to reality. Something similar to this has happened, and its was the mayor of London calling a reporter a German war criminal and when the reporter clarified that he was Jewish and took offence, the mayor went on to call him a concentration camp guard.
It all came out in the national newspapers, and everyone from Tony Blair to his own London assembly unanimously called on him to simply apologise and put the incident behind him and he simply refuses to, instead demanding for the reporter to apologise for the “rude and vulgar manner” in which he tried to interview the mayor.
Unfortunately, everything was caught on tape and the reporter was not speaking to the mayor in any rude or offensive manner, but it was in fact the mayor that was being very rude and offensive on tape.
Now, after almost a year of him refusing to apologise and his stubbornness on insisting that he had done nothing wrong, the disciplinary panel has found his conduct to be less than acceptable of a mayor of London and has suspended him for 4 weeks.
However, the mayor still remains defiant and insists that he had done nothing wrong and together with his cronies are insisting that as an elected official, he can not be removed from office or suspended from office by a panel that was not democratically elected. He thinks only the electorate has the right to suspend him from office and now he is about to launch an appeal.
After so much negative media attention, he still refuses to accept the fact that what he said and did was not appropriate and insensitive and now he is challenging the disciplinary procedures, insisting that only the electorate is able to ban or remove him from office.
I am so sorry Mr Livingstone, but last I recalled, none of the judges are democratically elected. They are appointed to melt out appropriate corrective measures or punishment to those that have broken the social rules we call Laws.
Just because you were elected by us does not mean that you are above rules and regulations of your office. Even if Tony Blair broke the law, he would have been subjected to the judiciary, and a simple “ I was elected by the people and only the people have the mandate to remove me from office” does not quite cut it.
Unless, you are suggesting that every time a complaint is made against you, the people (us) get to vote if we find you guilty or innocent and we get to vote on your punishment.
Be a man, admit your mistakes and move on, or sure as hell exists, you are no longer going to get my vote in the next mayoral elections.
